Travel Tuesday: Fassbender & Rausch Chocolatiers am Gendarmenmarkt, Berlin

April 05, 2016
Way back in January, 2013, my husband and I took a three hour bus ride to Berlin. I'd spent a few days there in October of the previous year, but it was for work and I didn't get to do much sightseeing. I had walked through the Gendarmenmarkt, but hadn't realized there was a chocolatiers in one of the buildings.

Fassbender & Rausch don't just sell chocolate, they make sculptures out of them, including major landmarks in Berlin, the Titanic, and a functioning chocolate volcano!

That's Chocolate!
Upstairs there is a very fancy cafe where you can buy ornate cakes and various kinds of hot chocolate. We returned with my husband's sister on a later trip and decided to forgo the cafe as we found it to be a bit cloyingly sweet, but the view was as beautiful as the cakes!
