April 19, 2016

I was lucky enough to be able to go to Florence for work in June 2013. We stayed there for two weeks, mostly spent in a dark room, but we had two weekends there as well and it stayed light late enough that we got to do some exploring. Across the river from the main tourist-y part is a beautiful rose garden leading up to the Basilica di San Miniato al Monte. The views of the Duromo and the old town are amazing, and the church itself is beautiful and and full of the weight of ages.

Sometimes, I really miss my short hair

That big dome? That's Il Duomo di Firenze, Florence Cathedral. Most of the art inside has been moved due to flooding (there was a particularly bad one in 1966), but the exquisite dome and beautiful 25-hour clock remain.
