Travel Tuesday: Little dogs of Venice

June 28, 2016
No matter how grand the architecture or how romantic the atmosphere, I will always get distracted by little dogs. I wasn't much of a little dog person until I moved to a bigger city, where small apartments lead to small, apartment sized dogs. People in Hamburg love their dogs, and there's only so many times you can see multitudes of little dogs running around together in a park, or being carried in a bicycle basket, or zipped into someone's coat on a chilly day before you fall in love with them.

Venice, being a small collection of islands with very little trees, grass and parks in general, was home to many wonderful creatures, and I couldn't help but to try to photograph them!

The one above kept straining against his leash, eager to .... sniff a hydrant? investigate a crust of focaccia? Nope, this little guy was absolutely desperate to visit a Giorgio Armani boutique. I think his human was friends with the the woman working the counter there and wanted to stop in and say hello, but he may have just had very expensive taste.

  1. Aren't they so cute! I don't travel a lot, but when I do I'm definitely always on the lookout for dogs and are more attracted to them than any other sights to see! :)

  2. So much variety! I love it! Thank you for linking up to the Showcase!

  3. Great photos but I did wonder if Reggie was okay with you taking so many photos of dogs? We felines tend to get a bit jealous but I must say, that fluffy white dog was pretty handsome.

  4. Aww those little dogs look so cute, I bet they have a wonderful time being pampered and chasing the pigeons in Venice. Thank you for sharing a lovely post. Purrs, ERin

  5. Animals are always the first thing I notice when I go anywhere. Even thought they re all small dogs, it's great to see the variety. Thanks for joining in the Pet Blogger Showcase!

  6. Loved seeing these pics and if I was the dog near the Armani store that would be my choice too. ;) Love that little doxie pic too! Nice to meet you!

  7. I'm afraid I'd be too distracted. I'd constantly be trying to interact with the dogs, and then not really sight seeing.
