Halloween Playlist Songs you Might not have Heard of

October 24, 2016
Music is a great way to set the mood and get into the spirit of holidays, but if it seems like the same songs over and over again, join the club. Everyone has Thriller, Ghostbusters and the Monster Mash on rotate, and while there is good reason these are classics, sometimes you want something new. There are only so many times you can Do The Time Warp, Again and again.

So I put together a selection of songs from my Halloween playlist that I haven't really seen anywhere else, in the hopes of breathing new life into an (un)dead playlist.

Everything here is accessible. For example Dark Funeral has a really excellent cover of Bathory's Call from the Grave, but I wouldn't spring that on anyone who isn't familiar with either of those bands. Next year I might make a playlist of heavier music if there's interest, but for right now I'm sticking to fun stuff.

Psyche Corp - Raise the Dead, Medicine Man
Pain - Zombie Slam, Dancing with the Dead
Die Krupps - Vampire
Judas Priest - Love Bites
The Cascades - Spells and Ceremonies
Candlemass - Death thy Lover
Iron Maiden - Dance of Death, Fear of the dark
Omnia - Wytches Brew
Type O Negative - Wolfmoon
Nightwish - Phantom of the Opera
Rob Zombie - House of a Thousand Corpses (now this one is creepy)
Blackmore's Night - Fires at Midnight
Moonspell - Mr Crowley (Black Sabbath Cover), Vampiria, Raven Claws
Saxon - Demon Sweeny Todd
Lordi - Kids Who Wanna Play with the Dead, They Only Come out at Night
Powerwolf - the Last of the Living Dead, Night of the Werewolves, Living on a Nightmare
E Nomine - Mitternacht, Das Böse, Das Tier in mir (Wolfen)

Basically, anything by Type O Negative, Lordi, E Nomine or Powerwolf could fit in here. I haven't made a playlist on spotify or 8tracks because they make you jump through hoops to access or listen to the whole song, and I wasn't sure which platform most people use and didn't want to alienate anyone by using a player they didn't. Next year I'd like to expand on this list and put into a better form for actually listen to. YouTube works for everyone right?
