The Regicorn is Penned

October 07, 2017
Happy Caturday! It's been a while, but I'm linking up with Athena Cat Goddess's Caturday Art link party to share this tapestry of the penned Regicorn, made in the Artflow App on my phone. (seriously, Artflow is an amazing app, I use it to draw in more than photoshop now.)

I got this image of "The Unicorn in Captivity" or "The Unicorn Is Penned," from wiki commons (it's public domain). Whenever I think of traditional imagery of unicorns, this tapetry always comes to mind. It's currently hanging in the Cloisters in NYC.

I found this photo of Reginald where he is sitting up, and colored over it using the colors of the unicorn. I had to shift around some plants to cover the hooves, but I managed to position Reg in such a way that I could use the horn and the fantastic tail.

I added a low opacity image of burlap sacking to try to get some texture on Reggie. It's way too big, but I don't think too many people will be looking that close. Also, artflow crashed right before I finished and I thought maybe I'd reached it and my phone's limits.
